ABOUT US
Murphy’s Bar and Grill is a longtime neighborhood staple in downtown Honolulu, home to the largest St. Patrick Day celebration in the Pacific. Since 1987, we have been giving our clientele a little taste of the Irish homeland, all wrapped up in great food, good company, and an extensive bar with 16 unique beers on tap. We are open daily, from the weekly business lunches to intimate dinners to rousing celebrations with family and friends.
Along with providing a quality establishment, Murphy’s is also a notable organizer for many of Hawaii’s local charities and programs. In addition to hosting the annual Pigskin Pigout for UH Football (over 1.5 million raised over 15 years!) and countless Hawaii Children’s Cancer Foundation fundraisers, we have also been a part of Coaches vs. Cancer, Hawaii Literacy, Aloha Festival Week Fundraiser, Make a Wish (hosting out of town children and their families for Pro Bowl), American Cancer Society, Ronald McDonald House (over 23 years of Annual Ronald McDonald Gift Wrapping night in December), St. Louis Flood Relief (1993), Friends of Ian Matsumoto, Aloha Airlines “Aloha for Aloha” fundraiser, UH Cancer Research Center, Hurricane Iniki fundraiser for victims (1993), CSI Fundraisers (Comfort, Security, Independence) for the elderly, David Lyman’s Memorial Scholarship for the California Maritime Academy, Save our Schools fundraiser (raising money for high school athletics), TV/PBS Hawaii, Restaurant Week, and more.
Murphy’s has been the gracious recipient of many local awards and recognitions over the past 24 years, including Spirit of Aloha, First Lady Award by Mrs. John Waihee, “Ten Who Make a Difference” by the Honolulu Star Bulletin (1989), Distinguished American Award by the National Football Foundation (1999), Outstanding Small Business State of Hawaii by National Fundraising Group (1999), National Restaurant Association finalist for Outstanding Community Service, Charles Ushijima Rainbow Service Award, Outstanding Small Business – State of Hawaii presented by National Fundraising Association.
In 2010, Murphy’s Bar and Grill was featured on the Food Network program “Diners, Drive-Thrus, and Dives”. Also in 2010, Murphy’s was inducted into the Hawaii Restaurant Association “Hall of Fame”, as well as being honored by the Ronald McDonald Charities for Community Service.
We are so thankful for our community and friends that have joined us over the years, and look forward to many more great times with you!
Many Mahalos,
Don and Marion Murphy
